Blue Marble Storytellers › Forums › General › Weekly Writing Prompts
What about starting weekly writing prompts? A lot of people said they enjoy the weekly rhythm on the Website-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named. There could be an initial post with a handful of prompts to choose from, then a forum where people could submit their stories from those prompts. At the end of each story, participants are required to suggest a prompt for the following week. The following week, aggregate all those prompts into a new prompts post. So the cost of submitting is that you have to come up with a suggested prompt for the next round.
(Or something like that.)
I really like this idea but wonder how many prompts we would end up with each week and would they get overwhelming if a lot of people contributed? Maybe have the first however many people to contribute get to submit a prompt? It might encourage people to submit early as they might want a say in the following week’s round?
Then again, if you saw there were already five stories, you wouldn’t feel obligated to submit a prompt, when that was sort of the “cost” of submitting. Perhaps it needs to be random?
